AFTER THE END OF THE ASSEMBLY II – THE PARLIAMENT
Video lecture online / Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt
In 2019, one in five German citizens sympathized with a dictatorship. A large majority considered parliamentary politics a theatrical production and politicians puppets.
Then, in 2020, parliaments and theaters suddenly stood empty, and people began wearing masks even offstage. Theater and politics were everywhere and nowhere.
The Lecture The Parliament From a future in which representative politics no longer exists, she looks back at parliaments as ruins of a bygone era. In search of something that perhaps never existed, she guides her audience through the Römer, the once proud landmark of Frankfurt and the seat of the city council.
What was representative democracy, and why will it one day fail? Relics from an almost forgotten present are assembled to form a museum of a possible future.
“The Parliament” is part of the long-term project “After the End of the Assembly,” in which andpartnersincrime explores new forms of assembly.

"Despite its technically crude aesthetic, this carefully crafted piece is intellectually stimulating and entertaining. Interesting connections are developed from the fragments of material."
